Opera Gala at the Cripps Theatre, Northampton School for Boys

Saturday 28th May 2022 at 7.30pm

Following a hugely successful, sell-out launch concert, Northampton Opera Group is delighted to announce its second Opera Gala on Saturday 28th May 2022 at 7.30pm at the Cripps Theatre, Northampton School for Boys.

NOG’s exceptional local chorus will be joined by three exciting soloists:

Soprano Linda Richardson, our soprano soloist, is currently on tour with Welsh National Opera, singing the role of Donna Anna in Mozart’s Don Giovanni. She gave a wonderful performance of this role  in Milton Keynes recently. Not only that, she stepped in at the very last minute to sing the tile role in Madame Butterfly, arriving at the theatre at 5.15pm for the evening performance! She will be singing “One fine day” from this opera in our gala concert. How exciting!

Baritone Nick Dwyer, who is making a name for himself as a superb singer and actor.

Tenor Michael Gibson, who is joining the Royal Opera Young Artists’ Programme next season.

Paul Lavender will again provide wonderful accompaniment and Music Director Phillip Thomas will lead the proceedings.

Repertoire will include much loved arias, duets and choruses from La Traviata, L’Elisir d’Amore and I Lombardi as well as the trio from Faust, Moses’ Prayer (Rossini) and a rare masterpiece from Puccini’s opera Edgar. You will also hear possibly the most famous opera chorus in the world, but you’ll have to come to the concert to find out what it is!

Tickets are available from Cripps Theatre from 1st April:
